Main Jury
The Main Jury is responsible for selecting the four regional Best Tall Building Winners (and from those, ultimately the Overall Worldwide Winner). The five-member jury is multidisciplinary (architect, urban planner, building developer/occupier, socio-economist, etc.) and represents a diverse geographic spread. The CTBUH Board of Trustees selects the Jury Chairs.
Technical Jury
The Technical Jury is responsible for selecting the Innovation Award, the Construction Award, and the Performance Award winners. They also provide technical insight on regional Best Tall Building Award candidates, to assist the Main Jury in choosing the Regional Finalists. The engineering disciplines are broadly represented in the Technical Jury and may include: construction/contracting, structural engineering, MEP engineering, environmental engineering, façade engineering, etc.
Urban Habitat Jury
The Urban Habitat Jury is responsible for selecting the Urban Habitat Award winner. This jury also provides urban insights on regional Best Tall Building Award candidates, to assist the Main Jury in choosing the Regional Finalists. The jury is typically made up of urban planners, city planners, landscape architects, academics, and architects with a strong urbanistic viewpoint.
CTBUH Board of Trustees
The CTBUH Board of Trustees is responsible for selecting both Lifetime Achievement winners, the 10 Year Award winner, and any CTBUH Fellows for that year. The Trustees are also responsible for possibly designating a “Global Icon” winner, which may or may not be at the Main Jury’s suggestion (Global Icon winners are rare – only one has been issued to date: the Burj Khalifa in 2010).
